Versus generative video

The same minute, a fraction of the cost.

Seedance 2.0 at 1080pOne 60-second pass. Footage only, no script or voice $25–41
…with typical rerollsIf half the shots need a second take $38–62
Etchly StudioFinished video: script, voice, art, music, captions $4–6

Seedance figures use typical third-party API rates of $0.42–$0.68 per generated second at 1080p with audio (October 2026). Generative clips run roughly 5–15 seconds, so a 60-second video is several generations stitched together. Prices change, so check the provider. The Etchly range is a 25-credit, 60-second video with 16 new illustrations on the Studio to Starter plans.

FAQ

Pricing questions

What is a credit?

Credits pay for the AI work in a video: writing, voice, illustrations and rendering. Ideas cost 1 credit, a script 2, producing 2 plus 4 per minute, and each new illustration 1. A typical brand-new 60-second video is about 25 credits.

Is there a free plan?

Every new account gets 10 free credits with no card required. That's enough to write a script and produce a short 15-second video to see the quality for yourself.

Do unused credits roll over?

Currently, yes. Each paid invoice adds your plan's monthly credits to your balance, and credit packs add to the same balance, so anything you don't use stays available.

What happens if a render fails?

Credits are reserved when you start and settled when the work is done. You only pay for work actually completed, and unused reservations are refunded automatically.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription from the billing page through Stripe's customer portal.

Why is it so much cheaper than generative video?

Generative video models bill per second of footage and per reroll. Etchly generates still illustrations at 1 credit each and animates them with its own motion engine, so the price doesn't grow with every second of video.
