Illustration styles

A signature look, not stock footage.

Stock clips make every brand look the same. Etchly illustrates each scene in a consistent art style that's yours, from hand-etched engravings to watercolor washes, and animates it in the way that suits the style.

The Etchly style picker with visual style presets

Nine ready-made looks

Start from a complete visual style, with art, palette, typography and motion tuned together: Celestial Line Art, Watercolor Chronicle, Editorial Motion Graphics, Esoteric Countdown, Whiteboard Sketch, Neon Noir, Paper Collage, Etched Engraving and Retro Risograph.

Eleven illustration techniques

Mix and match the illustration technique with any palette and font. Each technique is animated in its own way:

  • Line art: fine ink, engraving/etching, marker sketch, neon outline. Vectorized, so they draw themselves on.
  • Painted: watercolor with soft washes and paper grain.
  • Cut-out: flat vector, paper cut-out, risograph print, 3D clay, photo cut-out. Layered for parallax.
  • Full-frame scene: full background illustrations with cinematic camera moves.

Consistent from scene one to episode 25

Style consistency is what separates a brand from a pile of AI images. Your style, palette and characters carry through every scene, and with style presets they carry through every video. An AI art review checks each illustration before it's animated and regenerates any that drift off-style.

Choosing a direction and visual style for a new video

Pay per illustration, reuse for free

Each new illustration costs 1 credit. A typical 60-second video uses about 16 of them, and re-rendering with the same art costs nothing. Compare that with generating a minute of styled footage on a video model, where every second is billed. See the cost comparison.

FAQ

Illustration styles: questions

Can I match my brand's existing look?

Yes. Combine any technique with your brand kit's palette and fonts, and save the result as a style preset with a written style guide.

Which image models generate the art?

Illustrations come from state-of-the-art image models, then they're cut out or vectorized and reviewed by AI before animation.

Can I see a style before spending credits?

Yes. The style picker shows a preview of each look, and you can change style later. Switching style needs new illustrations, but the script and voiceover are reused.
